Palm Springs, CA – A parolee is behind bars tonight after a homeowner uses a gun in self-defense to stop his home from being burglarized.
Early Sunday morning around 3 a.m., Palm Springs police officers responded to a report of a residential burglary in progress at a home on the 600 block of North Belardo Road.
According to police, Ronald Bryant, 37, of Long Beach made his way onto the roof of the house and then dropped down into the patio area. Bryant then made his way into the house through a window. The homeowner heard the burglar and grabbed a handgun and was able to chase him out of the house and into the street. The homeowner held Bryant at gunpoint until police arrived and made an arrest.
Bryant is on parole for drug violations. He is now charged with first-degree burglary and parole violation.
UPDATE: Ronald Bryant is being held without bail.
