Borderland, Ohio – A man who reported being shot early Thursday on a West Toledo street has been arrested in connection with a break-in at a nearby house whose occupant shot at a burglar.
Randy Estrada, 21, of 3722 Burton St. was charged with burglary Thursday night in an affidavit filed in Toledo Municipal Court. He had called police just after 5:21 a.m. Thursday to report he had been shot while walking along Jackman Road near Berdan Avenue.
Police said Antione Garret, 34, had called in minutes earlier to report a burglary at his home nearby on Leybourn Avenue. Mr. Garret told police he fired numerous shots at a person trying to enter through a window.
Mr. Estrada was taken to Toledo Hospital on Thursday for treatment and, as of Friday night, had not been booked into the Lucas County jail, nor had a court appearance been scheduled.
